saw some tucked in among the Commons in the buckthorn on my road.

living in the country is good.

i put up a picture taken by Harold Stiver but he told me it was a copyright violation. what a shame, it was a beautiful photo. i guess he doesn’t need the extra traffic. not that there would be much. actually i’m pretty happy i got some here! how do you think he found out i put it up? the internet works in mysterious ways. or not so mysterious when you realize how it does.

my design though i took a page from jenny gordy‘s book.

believe it or not i had this fabric already when she came out with her latest line…i swear!

next time i’m going to try something other than binding to take care of the edges. i didn’t know what to do there so i tried to employ some newly acquired quilting skills with okay results. i do love the shape of it though. about to embark on round two: linen, gianna’s belated birthday gift.

she has some really awesome work for sale, i bought this one (edit: i went back to the shop to get a photo and it was gone! i think i must have taken the last one…it’s ~ the black ones hanging on the wall and called “progress”) and while i was in the middle of purchasing, the price dropped by $8! i’m a lucky lady.

i picked up this Japanese fabric from the workroom and modified the “deep impact” pattern from the BBW Dresses book. it was my first pattern modification attempt. i thought i would prefer the neckline being rounded and shorter than what she designed, but i think it turned out a little awkward.

it also ended up being too big for me (even though i made a muslin!) so i sewed an elastic around the waistband and gathered it along the back. sometimes i wear it with a shirt. sometimes i don’t.
